Ο Αχέροντας είναι ποταμός με μεγάλη μυθολογική και ιστορική παράδοση άρρηκτα συνδεδεμένος με το Νεκρομαντείο και τις Πύλες του Κάτω Κόσμου. Είναι χαρακτηρισμένος ως περιοχή ιδιαίτερου φυσικού κάλλους και ανήκει στις προστατευόμενες περιοχές του δικτύου NATURA 2000. Εκβάλλει στο Ιόνιο πέλαγος, στο τουριστικό χωριό Αμμουδιά.
Λόγω του ότι πρέπει να γίνει ο βιολογικός καθαρισμός Καναλακίου ο Δήμος Πάργας, η Περιφέρεια Ηπείρου και η Αποκεντρωμένη Διοίκηση προωθούν τον Αχέροντα είτε άμεσα είτε έμμεσα ως αποδέκτη των λυμάτων καθώς είναι μια λύση με μικρό κόστος.
Παλεύουμε:

• Να προστατευθεί ο Αχέροντας ποταμός και η ευρύτερη περιοχή.
• Αποδέκτης του βιολογικού να ορισθεί η θάλασσα.
• Προτεραιότητα η υγεία των κατοίκων και των επισκεπτών.

The Acheron is a river with great mythological and historical tradition which is strongly connected with the Necromanteion and the Gates of the Underworld . It is defined as the area of natural beauty and it is one of the protected areas network NATURA 2000. Exiting on the Ionian sea , in the seaside and touristic village “Ammoudia” .
Due to the biological wastewater treatment in Kanalaki, the Municipality of Parga , the Region of Epirus and the Decentralized Administration promote Acheron either directly or indirectly as a recipient of wastewater, as a solution at low cost .
We are trying to :

• Safeguard the Acheron River and the surrounding area .
• Define the sea far from the coastline as the recipient of the biological wastewater treatment.
• Give priority to the health of the residents and the visitors.
